Fantom Drives DataDock II Quad Interface 2-bay RAID Storage - Front
Fantom Drives DataDock II quad interface dual drive RAID is a high-speed, low-cost portable RAID storage solution. It is compact and easy to use – no software needed. DataDock II is perfect for audio/video editing, photo archiving or just storing office data. With two hot-swappable 3.5” SATA II removable hard drives available in 1TB, 2TB, 3TB, 4TB, 6TB & 8TB* configurations, you’ll have plenty of storage capacity.
High Performance Storage Solution
Whether you’re a digital photographer, audio/video editor or creative professional the DataDock II is the ideal storage solution to protect your valuable files. Unlike single drive backup, DataDock II employing RAID 1 simultaneously writes your valuable data to two independent hard drives so you have immediate backup as you save. In the event of a drive failure, you still have your data available while you send in the removable failed drive for repair.

Universal Connectivity
The DataDock II 2 bay RAID provides four interfaces including eSATA, FireWire 400, 800 and USB 2.0 with data transfer rates up to 300MB/s using eSATA. It also features Oxford Semiconductor’s OXUF960DSB chip to deliver best-in-class performance across all interfaces. A durable aluminum enclosure with a low noise DC fan makes this little unit quiet and cool. DataDock II is compatible with Time Machine and comes with NTI Shadow 4 with Ninja for PC and Mac.
RAID Protection
Raid levels 0, 1, and Spanning offer the flexibility to choose redundancy or performance depending on your particular need. RAID 1 offers 100% data redundancy and automatic data rebuilding in case of drive failure. RAID 0 provides maximum performance for tasks such as editing multiple streams of video with optimum playback.
Added Value
For added security, Fantom Drives offers a DataDock II hot-swappable spare drive module that also comes with a protective carrying case to keep your drive free of dust and moisture wherever you take it.

For the graphics or content-creation professional, the Fantom Drives DataDock II is a good, speedy repository for project files. Its individual drive modules are easy to swap, and easy to buy, and they store a lot of data. If you're one of those people who burn through drives as if they're dry brush in Southern California, take a look at this drive. It's reasonably priced, has redundant storage, and transfers data quickly.
The product works as advertised, and I purchased a second one for another film. In fact, every time I take a new documentary project on, I buy an array of some sort and have used these on two projects.
Given the fact that the main hard drive has not failed on me, I have never had to test whether the second drive is being written to, but it appears to be functioning fine. Of course, it gives me great comfort to know that I have a backup.
An array of some sort like this is a must-have for any filmmaker..
