Micronet/Fantom Drives Service Policy

MicroNet Technology is 100% committed to customer satisfaction. We will repair or replace defective items in accordance with the policies below.

Returning your Product:

No Product may be returned directly to Micronet without first contacting Micronet for a Return Material Authorization ("RMA") number. If it is determined that the Product may be defective, you will be given an RMA number and instructions for Product return. An unauthorized return, i.e. one for which an RMA number has not been issued, will be returned to you at your expense. Authorized returns are to be shipped prepaid and insured to the address on the RMA in an approved shipping container Your original box and packaging materials should be kept for storing or shipping your Product.

  • A Return Material Authorization (RMA) number is required for every return shipment to Micronet. The applied Return Material Authorization number on the shipment must match the correct amount of units, model type and serial numbers.
  • Products shipped to Micronet for service MUST be shipped in Micronet approved packaging (described below)
  • The RMA Number must be clearly visible on the box. Micronet support will provide you with an address label including RMA number.
  • Use a traceable carrier that can provide a proof of delivery, such as Federal Express or UPS.
  • Return Material Authorization numbers are valid for 20 days from date of issue.
  • Package your Micronet/Fantom Drives product and power supply inside a shipping carton with packaging material that fully protect the hardware. Do not send in anything else unless instructed by Micronet’s RMA Department- Items not requested may not be returned.

ALL WARRANTY CLAIMS ARE VOIDED IF A PRODUCT IS RECEIVED UNDER ANY OF THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS:

  • Product was damaged during transport as a result of bad packaging
  • Product damaged, modified, scratched, or opened
  • Product has one or more labels removed or torn

Packing instructions:

Hard Disk Drive mechanisms are extremely delicate devices, and excessive shock can damage the drive and render any data on the drive unreadable. It is in everyone's best interests if you ensure that your drive is safely packed. Micronet's warranty terms require the unit to be shipped in its original packaging, or in a package that provides the product with a degree of protection equivalent to that of the original packaging.

Items shipped with insufficient packaging will void the item's warranty, and may be rejected for service.

This policy is for our protection as well as yours. For maximum protection we recommend that you ship the item inside any brown box or master carton that the drive was originally shipped in. If the original packaging is unavailable, use a box large enough to accommodate the drive and power supply with room to spare on all sides. For packing material we will accept Styrofoam and "monkey breath", but bubble wrap is by far the preferred medium. The Micronet disk must be tightly buffered and must not be able to move inside the box. We will not accept any drive sent with insufficient packaging.

Each of the following are examples of insufficient packing that we have seen: Manila envelopes and/or padded envelopes, packing peanuts, popcorn and non-corrugated cardboard boxes (such as a software box).

Your Data
Micronet holds no responsibility for customer data, and depending on the nature of your problem there is a chance that your data will be not returned to you following the completion of your service. While we take no proactive steps to delete or otherwise damage your data, there are risk factors in the RMA process (including transporting the drive to and from our warehouse), and as such we cannot accept any responsibility for your data. If you still have access to your drive you should back up any vital data from that drive prior to sending it to us. If you do not have access to your data you may want to consider contacting a professional data recovery firm. Shipping Policy and Charges

The cost of sending a drive to Micronet for warranty service (also known as the return shipping cost), is paid by the customer. Micronet will pay for the return shipment if the return address is located in the United States of America. Micronet will refuse any collect payment shipment. If upon arrival your products are out of warranty, we will inform you of your options, as follows:

  1. The shipment may be returned to you at YOUR COST
  2. Micronet can service the item out of warranty, and provide you with a quote for service
  3. The item may be scrapped without further notice.

International (Outside the United States) Brokerage and Insurance:
Due to recent changes in shipping rules and regulations we must assess a surcharge for shipping outside the United States of America. The charge varies based on destination country, so please inquire with Micronet support as to the surcharge amount prior to sending your product for service. The surcharge for shipments to Canada is $35USD. This charge covers brokerage and insurance on the return shipment. If you have an alternate stateside address or a shipping account you would like us to use we will gladly accommodate.

Terms of Warranty

Unless otherwise specified, your Fantom Drives product has a limited one year warranty. The default warranty policy is listed here- please check the terms of warranty listed in your product manual for warranty terms for your product.

One Year Limited Warranty

Fantom Drives warrants this product (the “Product”) against defects in material or workmanship as follows:

1. LABOR: For a period of one (1) year from the original date of purchase from Fantom Drives or its authorized relseller, Fantom Drives will repair defective Product (or, at its option, replace with a new or recertified product) at no charge. After this 1 year period, you must pay for all labor charges.
2. PARTS: For a period of one (1) year from the original date of purchase from Fantom Drives or its authorized reseller, Fantom Drives will supply, at no charge, new or rebuilt replacement parts in exchange for defective parts of this Product. Any replacement parts will be warranted for the remainder of the original warranty period or ninety (90) days from installation by Fantom Drives. All exchanged parts replaced under this warranty will become the property of Fantom Drives.

This warranty only covers the hardware components packaged with the Product. This warranty does not cover any software contained in, or included with, the Product; any such software is provided “AS IS”. Please refer to any documentation included with the software for your rights and obligations with respect to the software.

This warranty extends only to you, the original purchaser. It is not transferable to anyone who subsequently purchases the Product from you. Proof of purchase in the form of a bill of sale (which is evidence that the Product is within the warranty period) must be presented to obtain warranty service. To obtain warranty service you must bring the Product, or deliver the Product freight prepaid, in either it’s original packaging, or in a package that provides the Product with a degree of protection equivalent to that of the original packaging, to Fantom Drives. Please contact Fantom Drives for further information.

Fantom Drives is not responsible for any damage to, or loss of, any programs, data, or other information stored on any media or any part of any Product serviced hereunder. Be sure to remove all features, parts, options, alterations, and attachments not under warranty prior to returning the Product to Fantom Drives. Fantom Drives is not liable for any loss or damage to these items.

This limited warranty does not cover: (1) any consumables (such as batteries) supplied with this product; cosmetic damages; damage or loss to any software programs, data or removable storage media; or damage due to the Product such as but not limited to excessive heat or humidity, or modifications of this Product; (2) improper installation, operation, testing or maintenance of this Product; (3) power failure or connection to improper voltage supply; or; (4) attempted repair by any party other than Fantom Drives. This Warranty does not apply when the malfunction results from the use of this Product in conjunction with accessories, products or ancillary or peripheral equipment, or where it is determined by Fantom Drives that there is no fault with this Product itself.

This Limited Warranty is invalid if the factory applied serial number has been altered or removed from the Product.

Repair or replacement as provided under this warranty is the exclusive remedy of the consumer. Fantom Drives shall not be liable for any incidental or consequential damages for breach of any express or implied warranty, breach of contract, negligence, strict liability or any other legal theory related to this product. Such damage include, but are not limited to, loss of profits, loss of data, loss of use of the product or any associated equipment, down time and purchaser’s time. Except to the extend prohibited by applicable law, any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose on this product is limited in duration of this warranty.

Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, or allow limitations on how long on implied warranty lasts, so the above limitation or exclusions may not apply to you. This warranty gives you specific rights; you may have other rights which vary from state to state.
